I have been helping students and families since 2001. I have an MA in Counseling and am certified in NJ as a Director of School Counseling, Guidance Counselor, SAC (Substance Awareness Counselor), and a Teacher of Psychology. I also have an MBA, so I am able to offer a unique combination of counseling and management skills – this translates into what I offer you and your child, which is a solution oriented, hands-on, skill development approach.
I have been a guidance counselor at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I have taught at the undergraduate level at two New Jersey colleges, and have been a counselor at the college level, as well. I have worked with all types of learners - visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. My students are from the general education population as well as students who are classified (IEP) or have a 504 Plan. I have helped parents who wonder if they should ask the school for additional assistance in order to 'level the playing field' for their child.
I have helped my own children navigate their academic journey in a high performing public-school district. You have my wholehearted commitment to 'make this work', I am here to help your child navigate their own academic journey.
My broad experience of educational programs and approaches translates into helping your children meet their educational and personal needs.
I believe that the best place for your child to receive out-of-school support is in their home. The best learning takes place in a peaceful, comfortable, and safe environment. Your home is that place. We will find the spot that works to that end.
Outside school support should not add yet another place you need to drive to and from and another demand on you. Receiving support at home alleviates the impact of transportation time and is much easier on your child. The goal is to reduce stress and make the best use of our time together. I will come to you, and will fit into your schedule.
One of our first tasks is for your child to create a Homework Station. Kids have more of a ‘buy in’ when they are involved in this process. They want to be ‘heard’. We will all work together to create a spot that works for everyone.
